Remittances: Impact on Migrant Workers Quality of Life

— theme: Migration and development
— country: Asia
— type: Reports

CARAM - 2010. "The report is released in tandem with the objectives of the International day to recognize the contributions made by the migrants to the workforce of the host country and to the country of origin. On this day of recognisation, CARAM Asia aimed to highlight the fundamental issue of remittances and the myth of the improvements over their lives. Our findings shows that the much applauded remittance-led development in the Asia region over the last decade is built on the backs of migrant workers and their families while they continue to experience severe and ongoing labour and human rights violations at all levels of the migration process. The report will demonstrate the myth of long term benefits from remittances for their families and communities of the migrant person. "
