Meeting of the Asian Inter-Parliamentary Caucus on Labour Migration: Strategies for Effective Social Protection for Migrant Workers

23-26 November 2012, Ortigas, Manila

From November 23-26 Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA), Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), and the Congressional Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs (COWA) of the Philippines will host a meeting of the Asian Inter-Parliamentary Caucus on Labour Migration. This meeting will be the sixth in a series of parliamentary dialogues that began in 2007.

The pre-WSFM meeting of the parliamentarians builds on previous processes on achieving social protection for migrant workers and their families. The Caucus will strengthen this agenda, exploring strategies to ensure social security coverage for all informal sector workers. The meeting will promote a well-informed and sustaining dialogue on this important issue for migrant workers across Asia.

The guest Parliamentarians, joining us in Manila from across South and Southeast Asia, will join the WSFM proceedings for the opening plenaries on November 26th, and some are intending to stay on in Manila to join the rest of the WSFM events.
